Book Review: The Sacred Loop by Anja Uhren

It’s rare that I read books containing illustrations, but when I came across The Sacred Hoop by Anja Uhren, I was glad I did. Anja’s illustrations completely blew me away. Her artwork is intricate and unique and her writing is fantastic.

the sacred loopYoung Amelia is terrified of the dark and scary monsters hiding under her bed. They only come out at night when everyone is asleep, but no one believes her. Not her parents or even her sister. Amelia is having difficulty sleeping because these scary beasts are keeping her up all night long.

One day, Amelia attends a fair where she meets an old wrinkly faced woman who senses her strife. Not only does the old woman believe her, but she offers a solution to end Amelia’s night time terror once and for all.

This is a wonderful children’s book that many can relate to. After all, how many of us had monsters hiding under our beds when we were kids? I’m far removed from those days, but I remember them, fondly now, and this book would have been an excellent addition to my nightly reading.

No matter how old you are, you’ll love The Sacred Hoop. Come check it out for free on BookRix! And be sure to leave a comment for Anja Uhren. We’re sure she’d love to hear from you!
