Blog Love: Indie Authors Unite!

As mentioned in our “Publishing Tips & Tricks” series (Part 6: Get a Good Review and Part 8: The Book Blog) book blogs are very important for indie authors. Blogs are used as a source for marketing, reviewing, advertising, and communicating between authors and readers. As a major advocate of indie writing, BookRix loves to read related book blogs. Last week, we came across a great blog that helps bring attention to young authors. Teens Unite To Write often features teen writers from BookRix. Recent interviews have been conducted with moon.writer, hunter.hazelton, rootrot, and tal.lingenua. We can find out more about the author, such as where their inspiration comes from and who their favorite BookRix writers are. (To read the whole interview, click on the username)

Do you think that Bookrix is a great place for teenage writers?
Yes. It’s a great community. There’s editors, illustrators, readers and fellow writers. It’s really helpful to talk to other author and the members are always posting interesting links with great resources for writing and publishing. It’s a great place for budding authors to get their names out there and get their feet wet.

What inspired you to start writing The Mountain Man?
The history of the American frontier…It was really the joys and dangers of the lengthy forests, towering mountains, and lively plains that captured the hearts of mountain men. That, and business. This is actually quite surprising, because the base of operations for future trading on the North American continent (aside from the Native Americans) started with these burly men.

Why do you write?
I write because I can let out my innermost thoughts, feelings, and emotions through the conveying words upon a page. It releases energy and stress and all the things I can’t explain except for on paper. It’s also fun to be a somewhat of a “god” or creator of an imaginary world that does what you want it to.

Do you have any advice for any fellow writers out there?
Write if you wanna write! Don’t let anyone bring you down.

Adam Lewis LaValley (rootrot) has even published a book!

A mountain man begins his adventures where no other wishes to go – inside the ravenous wilderness, filled with deathly hardships and natural beauties. Bears and wolves are not the only dangers: a man in these parts can die of starvation, disease, or dreadful injuries. Not even territorial natives will let a man live through the winters. For Thomas, the mountain man of this story, wilderness is home.
