Martin Luther King Jr., Day!

Martin Luther King Jr

His voice was captivating. His message was clear. His cause was admirable and his spirit was strong. Martin Luther King Jr. was a man with conviction who, with great determination, dedicated his time, and ultimately his life, for the advancement of civil rights. King was inspired by Ghandi’s stance on non-violent activism. He embraced those views and incorporated them throughout his leadership role of supporting the oppressed in their ongoing struggle for justice.

The third Monday of each year marks the celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. to honor a man who fought for equality with confidence and determination. On this day, we would like to reflect on a highlight from his “I Have A Dream” speech that he delivered in Washington D.C., back in 1963.

“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.”

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood.

I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.

I have a dream today”.

He was filled with promise and hope. Let’s all take a moment today to remember this great leader, his message, and his dream for the future. If you can, please watch him deliver the “I Have A Dream” speech in the video below.
